Who and What is NTTN?
-
The North Texas TRANSportation Network (NTTN) was founded in the summer of 2023 as an auxiliary ministry of Galileo Church in response to Texas Senate Bill 14 (SB14). Our mission is simple but urgent: to provide travel and relocation grants to North Texas families seeking out-of-state healthcare for their trans and gender-expansive youth.
SB14 prohibits healthcare professionals from providing best-practice, gender-affirming care such as puberty blockers and hormone therapies to trans and gender-expansive youth under 18. This law directly contradicts the standards of care endorsed by the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and strips away access to life-saving treatment. At NTTN, we believe healthcare is a human right. Denying necessary medical care to trans youth is state-sponsored cruelty, and we refuse to let families face this burden alone.
Galileo Church’s first missional priority is to “do justice for LGBTQ+ people and support the people who love them.” Out of that commitment, NTTN was born. To launch this work, Galileo contributed $10,000 in seed money and covered all operating expenses until NTTN formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in July 2025. This ensured that 100% of donations went directly to families through travel and relocation grants. Today, our funding comes from generous individuals, private sources, foundations, grants, and fundraising events, never public money.
Despite opposition, hate mail, and threats, NTTN remains steadfast. We have been falsely accused of “putting kids on buses” and smeared with harmful rhetoric. None of these accusations are true. What is true is that families are suffering under harmful legislation, and we are committed to helping them access the care their children need to thrive. Love and acceptance will always win over hate, and we will not be silenced.
Since our founding, we have made a measurable impact. In a few short years, NTTN has raised over $100,000 and provided 72 travel grants and 8 relocation grants. NTTN is governed by a dedicated Executive Board(all volunteers), consisting of an Executive Director, Chair, Vice Chair, Marketing Officer, Secretary, Treasurer, Governance Officer, and Director-at-Large. NTTN’s executive board is supported by an outstanding team of non-director officers, including coordinators for technology, applications, transactions, fundraising, volunteer events, and travel arrangements.
We envision a North Texas where every family with trans or gender-expansive youth can afford the healthcare they need. As neighbors to one another, we believe in lifting each other up so that all families can flourish. As long as trans youth and their families are being denied care in Texas, NTTN will be here to stand with them. We want to say a huge “thank you” to Rev. Dr. Katie Hays and Galileo church for the vision and courage to take a leap of faith to help a very marginalized community and truly be the hands and feet of Jesus.

SB14 prohibits health care workers from providing gender-affirming health care such as puberty blockers and hormone therapies to trans and gender-diverse minors.
This ban goes against the standards of care endorsed by the Texas chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Health care is a human right, and withholding necessary care for trans kids is state-sponsored cruelty. As neighbors to one another, we seek ways to help each other’s families flourish.

In January 2025, President Trump issued an executive order withholding federal funding from gender-affirming care providers for 18-year-old adults. Governor Abbott subsequently instructed Texas agencies to comply with the president’s order, and in January 2025, many health care providers and practices ended their gender-affirming care for 18-year-olds making it next to impossible to find their care in Texas. As a result, NTTN expanded its travel and relocation grants to include 18-year-old adults in September 2025.

Funds are contributed from private sources only; no public money has been used to fund NTTN.
Many organizations serve as referrals for families in need of help.

NTTN was formed in the summer of 2023. Galileo Christian Church served as our fiscal sponsor from 2023-2025. NTTN is a non-religious organization, requiring no religious participation or belief by applicants, their families, donors, or board members.
Our vision is to ensure that every transgender and gender-diverse minor in North Texas has access to the healthcare they need, regardless of geographical barriers. We envision a future where families facing the challenges of seeking out-of-state healthcare for their children find support, financial assistance, and hope through our grant program.
At the heart of our vision lies a commitment to equity and inclusivity. We aim to empower families to navigate the complexities of accessing specialized healthcare services by providing them with the resources and support they need to undertake these journeys with confidence and dignity.
Through our grants, we aspire to alleviate some of the financial burdens that often accompany seeking healthcare beyond state lines, enabling families to focus on what matters most—the health and well-being of their children. We envision a world where no family is forced to choose between accessing life-affirming care and financial stability.
By fostering a community of support, advocacy, and compassion, we seek to create a brighter, more hopeful future for transgender and gender diverse youth and their families. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and live authentically, regardless of where they reside.
